Week Thirteen-- Monday January 5, 2015

Hello everyone!

I know it's only been a few days since I've written; but both Sister Kandare and I are so excited about working together in this area and doing all that we can to build the ward. While I was with Sister P, we kept trying to get in touch with part member families and members that are less active but were never able to get in touch with them; but just in the past few days we've been able to get in contact with all of these families and couples where one is a member and one is not. We are very excited! This truly is the Lord's work and it's amazing to witness his timing in all things.

Our ward has moved to 11:30 so the members (and investigators) are loving that so far. Kirk has now gone a full week without smoking! We are so proud of him! He is loving reading from the Book of Mormon and truly "feasting upon the words" as it says in 2nd Nephi. He is incredible.

Sunday night, we went over to a former investigator's home and her daughter was there--probably in her late 20s early 30s. Has two darling little girls; while we were there she brought up the bible and we had a discussion about the bible and the book of mormon. After we talked and answered some of her questions, she says "Oh, well know that you've cleared that up, I want to come to your church and check it out". It was great. We gave her all of the information and set up a time to meet with her later this week but happy that we could help answer her questions in a peaceful way without any contentious feelings towards one another. There was another former investigator, Estora, that we had been trying to get in touch with for a few weeks but on Friday we finally caught her. Playing games with a woman from our ward with special needs, crazy right? So we talked with her, and she told us the previous missionaries (elders) had been too pushy and forceful so she sort of ended things; but when we were able to also clear up some of her initial concerns about the Book of Mormon she was more open to meeting with us again. We are looking forward to seeing what happens with both of these women.

We were given the assignment to read the Book of Mormon in 6 months, it's 3 months in and I'm a third through Alma--I'm really hoping to read it all in time and hold myself accountable to this goal. I just love the Book of Mormon. This will probably sound awful, but this is the first or second time that I've read it and gained so much out of it's pages and learned from each of the different books within.

Sister Kandare and I have been getting up each morning and jogging down to the river, we took some pictures this morning. So beautiful. Great way to start the day and clear our minds so that we can focus and be alert in the mornings. We are having too much fun together, but have been setting visions and goals as individuals and as a companionship to work hard and not get too comfortable.

We are looking forward to a great week, hope everyone else has a good one as well!

Love to you all. Keep the faith and keep smiling,
Sister Allen
